Train Stations
Train travelling enthusiasts here are four great stops and a driving getaway to the Northern Neck that you don’t want to miss. You can read more in our book Beyond the Rails!
Colonial Williamsburg train station ticket booth. Take a walk down history lane and stay in a period house. The train station is right on the premises.
If you arrive at Richmond Station make sure to stop by The Jefferson Hotel to view one of the most incredible hotels in the country.
Nestled in the mountains you will find the Hotel Roanoke directly across the street from the train station. An adorable little town and all the outdoor activities you can imagine nearby.
Beauty, history and education all in one stop. Visit Charlottesville, home of the University of Virginia and Monticello.

The northern Neck area of Virgina is approximately a one hour drive from Richmond Virginia or from Colonial Williamsburg. We were fortunate to enjoy a terrific stay at The Tides Inn in Irvington, VA and for history buffs check out the unique stays at Stratford Hall in Stratford, VA, home of the Lee Family.
