The Power of Play!

images (18)My first job out of college was “working” in the playroom of the Floating Hospital for Infants and Children in Boston.  (And yes, the original hospital was a floating ship in the harbor – picture above.)

As a fundraiser for the pediatric and NICU wards, I learned the true meaning of strength, but more importantly I learned about the healing power of play.  IV poles, monitors, bald heads and wheelchairs were the norm in the otherwise loud, colorful and happy playroom.  The lessons the children of the 7th floor playroom taught me about laughter, courage and the healing power of play have stayed in my heart ever since.

This video is awesome. I love the music and the story of the patients playing.  Beware tissues are needed.  Behold the power of play!
